An UN-Slumber Party

Waaayyyy back in February we celebrated Jenny's 7th birthday. She really wanted a slumber party, but we weren't convinced that we were up for having a bunch of sweet girls up giggling all night. So instead we had an UN-SLUMBER Party. All the girls came dressed in their PJs and brought a pillow and sleeping bag. They came, ate pizza, played some games, opened presents, had cookie cake and watched a movie before going home hyped up on sugar :)

As the girls arrived, they each got a pillow case to decorate w/ fabric markers

and take home as a party favor.

The girls were laughing hysterically as they watched my Mom demonstrate how to play chubby-bunny and stuff way too many marshmallows in her mouth :)

After all the games, the girls rolled out their sleeping bags and sat down to watch Ramona & Beezus each with a bowl full of popcorn :)

To the zoo...

So...it is April and I am just now getting around to doing my February posts...

We made our first trip to the zoo for 2011 with our friends the Cooney's. The new African exhibit just opened up ... it was so nice. You can now feed the giraffes....for a whopping $5 for 3 pieces of lettuce. A bit overpriced, but still a neat experience, and the kids loved it. :)

Every time Jonathan sees my phone (which of course NEVER happens) or a camera, he smiles and says, "eeeee" which is his version of "cheese." So...I take pictures. Here are a few from this month...

Aramco Houston Half-Marathon 2011

The Chevron Houston Marathon & Aramco Houston Half-Marathon were held on January 30, 2011. I was determined to beat my time from last year (which was 2:55). This year I finished in 2:23 which was about 7 minutes faster than the San Antonio Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon in November. Still not speedy, but the only person I race (loosely calling it race) against is myself. The weather was in the 60's and rainy...not exactly ideal running conditions, but the spectators were awesome. It seemed like there were way more than last year. All in all a good run and lots of fun...can't wait till next year's half. :)
