James 1:2-3

A little over two years ago, we were faced with a trial, one that changed us forever.

On April 11th, we were faced with yet another trial. Early Sunday morning, Jonathan had a fever that went up quickly causing a febrile seizure which lasted on and off for about an hour. After three different anti seizure medicines, they were able to get them to stop. The medication caused everything to slow down and he was intubated. Intubation = a stay in the PICU at TCH...a place we are all too familiar with. His blood pressure, saturation levels and temperature went up and down. Once his stats were stable and the sedatives wore off, he was extubated and graduated to a step down from PICU. The next morning, he regained his appetite and ate almost 3 whole pancakes! So, that afternoon (Friday) he was discharged and we came home.

So, while this hospital stay was only 6 days (compared to a month the last time), it was definetly a trial. In both visits to the ER, James 1:2-3 came up. Reminding us that we are not in control, God is. He puts us through trials to test us and help us to lean on Him more.

All in all, Jonathan is back to his usual self. In fact, he decided to go ahead and try to eat with a fork and finally sit with his legs out in front of him. We've been trying for the sitting with his legs straight out for over a year! He is back to pulling off his CIs and glasses and either chewing on them or throwing them on the floor, back to pulling Jenny's hair or scratching her to get his way. A whole new appreciation to sibling rilvary :)
