Our church (Second Baptist Church - South Campus) hosted our first VBS this month. In the past, we have always traveled to the Woodway campus for VBS. This year, the show came to us (and the other 4 campuses). In our first South Campus VBS, we saw over 1,000 kiddos that attended at least one day. Wednesday was "bring a friend day" and several of those friends came for the rest of the week. We continued the "superhero" theme from the last two years. This year, the 4 superheroes (Captin Zirk, Zoink, Zap & Zing) were challenged by the "Posers" who were the Anti-superheros. Each day, the kids were presented with questions as the theme. What are you thinking? (Are our thoughts Godly thoughts?) What are you saying? (focus was was on gossip...and not doing it, saying nice things to others) What are you doing? What are you thinking? And the best one... What are you choosing? The was the question presented/taught on decision day. On decision day, we had over 100 children make decisions for Christ!
I taught (with two other moms) in Jenny's 1st grade class. It was great to be able to share it with Jenny...even if there was a little extra clingy-ness :)
Jenny wanted to dress up like Zing...so after a super cute silver sequined head band and lots of white and blue spray hair coloring...she looked a little like Zing. While Captain Zirk doesn't have colored hair, Jonathan was supportive of his big sister's decision and had his hair colored blue too.
